
Security guard of University of Ghana arrested over alleged assault

Ebenezer Annor Darko, a security guard and a member of the University's Safety and Security Services Directorate (SSSD), has been arrested over a viral video assaulting a civilian at the University of Ghana.
The suspect who was seen in the video allegedly beating, stomping, and slapping the victim was picked up by the Inspector-General of Police’s Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team (CVET).
The victim was apprehended on suspicion of theft.
The University noted that it had taken cognisance of the footage and had launched investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident in line with its Consolidated Code of Conduct for Employees.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, April 14, the Police Service said the suspect is currently assisting with investigations.
It added that further details will be communicated to the public in due course.
Meanwhile, the Police have reiterated their warning against mob justice and urged the public to avoid taking the law into their own hands when dealing with suspected offenders.
