The Nsuta Circuit Court in the Sekyere Central District of the Ashanti Region has sentenced a driver and ex-convict, Douglas Nyarnor, to five years’ imprisonment for stealing GH¢195 belonging to an auto-rickshaw operator.
Nyarnor, a resident of Jeduako near Nsuta, was sentenced on Thursday, October 29, 2026, by the presiding judge, His Lordship Simon Nketiah Gagah.
According to the prosecution, the complainant, Obed Gyamfi, operates an auto-rickshaw, popularly known as a pragya, and resides at Nsuta.
The court heard that on October 27, 2026, at about 8:00 p.m., Gyamfi parked his vehicle in front of a provision shop belonging to a witness, Deborah Ankamah, alias Maabena, near the Jeduako-Birem taxi terminal.
While conversing with the witness, Gyamfi reportedly noticed Nyarnor loitering around his vehicle and began monitoring his movements.
The prosecution said Nyarnor allegedly took advantage of the situation, opened the vehicle’s unlocked money box and removed the day's sales before walking away.
