Gold robber arrested at Atiwa

The Ghana Police Service in Atiwa West in the Eastern Region has arrested three persons for unlawful gold robbery and possession of firearms and ammunition.

According to the Police, a suspect, Kingsley Kofi Antwi was arrested in connection with a robbery at Akyem Asamama. Intelligence gathered indicates that he also robbed one Emmanuel Kingsford Agbo of quantities of gold at gunpoint at Asamama.

The suspect admitted the offence in his caution statement and mentioned one Francis as his accomplice. Kingsley disclosed that Francis provided information on the victim for the operation.

Kingsley further told the police that after the victim was robbed of the gold, it was kept in the accomplice’s room and sold to a buyer at Anyinam for GHC 70,000.00.

The police retrieved a black pump action gun from the bush, including two live BB cartridges and three empty BB shells, black jeans trousers, Tecno Camon 20 mobile phone, a face mask made from black socks, and cash of GHC3000.00.

Police say efforts are underway to put Kingsley Kofi Antwi, and his accomplices before court.

The Atiwa West Police Commander, DSP Sheila Odoei, assured the public, particularly residents of Atiwa West, of the Command’s commitment to maintaining peace and security.
