A group of ninety-six (96) Ghanaians currently held in an Ivorian prison is calling on the government of Ghana for assistance.

One of the inmates who was fortunate to gain access to a mobile phone and reached out to Crime Check indicated that he has been held in the for five years for a crime he says he did not commit.

A Ghanaian man has been on remand (waiting for trial) for five years in Côte d'Ivoire. Because there is no language interpreter available, he has been unable to defend himself and explain his side of the story.

This man is the primary provider for his family. Since his arrest, his family has had no idea where he is or what happened to him.

The inmate claims there are 96 other Ghanaians facing similar struggles in the same prison system, many of whom are "lost" to their families.

The Crime Check Found has stepped in to advocate for these prisoners. We are urging Ghana's Ministry of Foreign Affairs to Visit the prisons in Côte d'Ivoire to verify the number of Ghanaians held there and to provide the necessary legal and translation support.

Help notify the families of those who have been missing for years.
