Emmanuel Kofi Mensah, a 22-year-old motor mechanic and Bolt driver has been sentenced to 25 years in prison with hard labour by an Adenta Circuit Court, for robbing a beautician at Mantey Farms.

Emmanuel pleaded guilty to the charge of robbery and was convicted on his own plea by the court, presided over by Angela Attachie.

Reports indicate, that the victim, Yvonne Dzane Dzifa hired Mensah's Bolt service from Madina Zongo Junction to Adenta, but Emmanuel failed to stop when he got to Dzifa's destination at Adenta Barrier.

He reportedly locked the vehicle doors and continued towards the Adenta-Dodowa road, drove through Mantey Farms, where he allegedly stopped and demanded for the victims handbag and other belongings.

He reportedly pulled out a cutlass, threatened her and dragged her from the vehicle before repeatedly striking her as she held on to her bag.

According to prosecution, Emmanuel eventually slashed the victims left wrist and little finger, forcing her to release the bag which contained an iPhone 17 Promax valued at GH¢18,000, an iPhone 12 worth GH¢3,500, a cash amount of GH¢3,200, and other personal belongings.

Emmanuel is said to have contacted an accomplice, who arrived at the scene on a motorbike. However Dzifa managed to take a backpack from the front seat of the vehicle and escaped into a nearby bush.

Emmanuel and his accomplice reportedly pursued her with cutlass but failed to retrieve the backpack.

The victim then scaled the fence of a nearby house and remained there until the following morning, when the landlord notified the Police.

Police Officers subsequently rescued her and found a tablet and mini-laptop in the backpack, which were suspected to be stolen property.

The victim was later treated at the Pantang Government Hospital after reporting the incident.
