"I don't want to infect anyone else" - Man pleads to reconcile with ex-girlfriend after HIV test

A 42-year-old father of two is appealing for help to reconnect with his 27-year-old girlfriend after both tested positive for HIV.

Speaking to Crime Check, the man said the young lady discovered her status after visiting the hospital for treatment of rashes that developed on her private parts following sexual intercourse.

"My girlfriend came back from the hospital in tears. When I asked why she was crying, she told me the doctors said she has HIV. Three weeks later, I also went for a test, and it came out positive," he recounted.

He said he has been devastated by the results but still wants to continue the relationship.

However, according to him, the lady is no longer interested in him despite the support he gave her, including helping her establish a sewing business by buying industrial machines.

"I bought her industrial machines, and I have spent a lot on her, including a monthly allowance ranging from GH¢500 to GH¢1,000," he said.

He added that their four-year relationship ended after the lady’s mother opposed their marriage, though she had initially supported it.

"My girlfriend had initially agreed that we settle as a married couple, but she changed her mind when her mother stood against it. Now, the lady does not even want to see me at all and has blocked me from reaching her via phone," he said.

His concern is that if his girlfriend moves on to another relationship, she could unknowingly spread the virus.

He is therefore asking for advice on what to do.
