Woman,25, gets 10 years over acid attack on boyfriend

The Koforidua High Court has convicted Vera Asare, 25, of manslaughter after she admitted to pouring acid on her boyfriend, Daniel Omane, while he was asleep.

The incident, which occurred on November 29, 2024, reportedly followed a domestic dispute between the couple.

The attack left the victim with severe burns, and he later died on July 25, 2025, after months of medical treatment and complications.

During proceedings, the accused entered a guilty plea under a negotiated plea agreement, which recommended a 10-year custodial sentence.

However, the court has deferred sentencing to March 11, 2026, pending the outcome of a pregnancy test and the consideration of other relevant factors.
